Add Punch With A Poncho
Cooler Weather Style
I like Ponchos. I never really thought about purchasing a poncho, because my husband likes to see my figure. So I thought…don’t take a big, loose fitting rectangular piece of clothing that covers it up. But I have three ponchos now and my sweet husband bought all three of them, because he liked them on mannequins. So I guess that sometimes the loose Bohemian look is one that he likes. Even Burberry touted the Power of the Poncho last year as they designed ponchos that helped to fuel their retail sales.
Sometimes however a poncho can be a bit intimidating. How do you wear one? What do you pair one with? All good questions. I always try to balance my upper and lower body. If I wear something loose and not form fitting on top…I wear pants that are sleek and skinny. (If I wear a fuller legged pant, then I top them with something that is more form fitting.) Thus, with a poncho, I go tighter legs like skinny jeans or leggings.
We always go to Gruene, TX in October for the Gruene Wine and Music Festival. It is always a great 4 days of awesome music and wine (I’m not much of a wine drinker…haha, I’m not really a drinker), but Ken and I both love music and there is plenty of that In Gruene.
There is also always a lot of good shopping and I have a few of my favorite clothing stores. I love them because they carry fashion items that you just don’t find in other stores. Hillbilly Chic is one of my favorites. This is sweet poncho. I like the detail in the design across the shoulders and the fringe.
I’m wearing it on this day, because it is cool, but not cold here in Texas and I really just needed something to block a little crispness in the air. I paired it with a textured gray legging and brown boots to pick up the brown in the shoulder trim design. The boots were purchased a couple of years ago at J.C. Penney. I just wore a long sleeved gray tee underneath and the new leather “wrap” necklace with the gold bar and the turquoise drops are new from Sam Moon. Here in the Dallas area…we love Sam Moon. Great accessories at low prices.
Below are just a few pictures of our trip to Gruene. The sweet picture of the two children is called: Here's the church. I purchased it at the Gruene Mansion Inn where we always stay. The Arched Windows are from the Gruene Antique Store....always a "must" shopping stop. The Gruene Mansion Inn is where we always stay...we try to go down to Gruene about 4 times a year. And the view from our room...well we always get one that overlooks the Guadalupe River. We love Gruene, Texas.
I hope and pray that everyone is enjoying a start to a New Year. Let’s work to make it a fabulous one!
Blessings to all of you,
Jesus said, " And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
