Smiles and Laughter
No Make-Up Compares
I've always said, "Where ever Jesus is...There's A Party going On!" Don't you love going to parties? Everyone always looks so pretty. Is it because they are dressed up and in there prettiest clothes, when they might otherwise just be hanging out in baggy sweatpants? I don't think so. My feelings are this: Every one looks so much prettier at a party, because they are usually SMILING. Sometimes people smile when they are happy, but those who are joyful can always find reasons to smile...often when others cannot. The result is a beauty that just shines out from deep within.
Jesus knows everything about you, and He has made arrangements for you to look back at adversities in your life and smile...or even laugh. I know Jesus and I know His grace. Where it not for that, I would have not known laughter or joy for the last several years. A couple of accidents crumpled my small body and I have been under general anesthesia about 19 or 20 times in the last 3 years. I am doing well now, but there were a lot of times that the physical pain that I was going through was pretty much - constant! Twenty four hours a day! For 22 months, I woke up with headaches so sever that if I woke up aching to go to the bathroom...I couldn't, because it hurt to badly to move. During this time, I was sleeping only a couple of hours a night. Back surgeries, neck surgeries, wrist surgeries, 5 or 6 (I can't remember) shoulder surgeries and a total shoulder replacement. Recently another mastectomy...and the list goes on... Circumstances like that can really take its toll on you. It could have been really easy to lose my hope for any physical relief. It could have been very easy for me to lose my JOY. But because my joy was not sourced from the physicality of this world...THIS WORLD COULD NOT STEAL MY JOY FROM ME!
Those who know Jesus, know His grace. His grace is the "yeast" that makes hope and joy rise up in your heart. There are so many things that could have brought me down these last few years, But Grace is stronger than gravity. When you are falling down, the question should not be "How far can or will I fall?" but, "How high can I bounce?"
I read once...Even in the land of milk and honey, you might get kicked by a cow or stung by a bee, but when that happens, you can laugh with the Lord by your side. You've always heard that laughter is good medicine.
Nehemiah 8:10 says: The Joy of the lord is your strength. And Anne Lamott said: JOY is the best make up. When JOY is your inner strength and the reason for your smile, then you don't have to wait for good or great things to happen in your life in order to have something to smile about. Why? I think it is because YOU ARE AND YOUR LIFE IS A GOOD/GREAT THING!
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies...She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:10, 25
Mother Teresa said, "Peace begins with a smile. And a SMILE is the prettiest thing you can wear!
So...Show your JOY and Smile. It truly is what makes you beautiful.
Blessings to all of you,
Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy...The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy. Psalm 126: 2-3
