Greetings From McKinney Texas...

Before I started this blog, I read a lot of articles about how to write a killer "About Me" page.  I read quite a bit about why you should make your "About Me" POP!!!

My name is Cathy and I would like to welcome you to "In My Nana's Closet"

I was born near Christmas in 1955.  I wasn't supposed to be here until mid February and in 1955 that was quite an ordeal.  Guess what?  I made it!    I wnow I am "officially" be over 60.  Haha...I Whew!  It has been exciting, challenging, and always fun!

My husband Ken, and I live in McKinney, Texas.  McKinney is a sweet little Texas town about twenty minutes straight north of Dallas.  I am a Wife, Mother, and a "Nana" to five beautiful granddaughters, who love to play "Dress-Up" or "Shoe Store" in my closet.  I am a full time Stock Trader, a Registered Nurse (surgery is my specialty),  I have had 19 years experience as a Naturopathic Nutritionist, and have a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design...from a "while" back.  But they say, "Once a Fashionista...Always a Fashionista!"  I am also a Breast Cancer Survivor.,..from 2004!

Why...'IN MY NANA'S CLOSET"  Well first of all...I am a nana...to 5 sweet little girls and more girls on the way.  And secondly...two of my them who live close love to play in my closet.  I realized I had gone a little overboard when my granddaughter, Pari, made a sign for my closet door that read..."SHOE STORE".  Ok...when I met my husband Ken, I had over 350 great pairs of shoes.  I have since whittled that down...now I wonder "Why"?

I call myself a "neutral kind of gal".  I laughingly told friends, "I wear four colors: black, white, gray and blue"  I had to retract that statement and say, "Ok, I only wear ONE color - blue".  This isn't exactly true, but black white and gray do take up the most amount of space in my closet. I am trying to branch out...spread my wings so to speak and be more adventurous with my style of dress and opening my closet to a colorful new world.   :)

My husband, Ken is a long time Dallas Police officer...and yes he was one of the first officers who followed the Dallas "shooter" into the college that horrible night in Dallas.  He was part of the group that sealed off the building until SWAT arrived and was there all night long.  Knowing 5 officers had been killed and having no knowledge of my husband's safety our family and friends spent that long night in prayer.

Which brings me to who I really am...

I am a Christian.  I am follower of Jesus Christ.  I believe that I have a Creator....a Heavenly Father who loves me dearly, and that by His love and by His Grace I have been redeemed.  Hopefully and prayerfully, I bring glory to His name.  Hopefully and Prayerfully, I am "Salt" and "Light".

Join Me On This Journey.......  Yes, Please!

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.                                                                      Matthew 5:13-16
